If you are fortunate to have some time off this summer, enjoy! The Practical Principals will be back in the fall with new shows so you can learn more about everything they didn’t teach you in grad school!
I will be mostly bumming around town with the family, but we have a trip planned to Yellowstone in July. As for Melinda, life will be getting twice as exciting with the upcoming birth of her second daughter!
We’ll keep you up-to-date, but look for more from us in the fall!!
Melinda Miller is an elementary school principal near Springfield, Missouri. She has been podcasting since May of 2007 and has conducted staff development training on podcasting for teachers in her district.
Scott Elias is a high school assistant principal in Northern Colorado. He met Melinda through their mutual infatuation with Getting Things Done and appeared as a guest on her podcast in July of 2007.
Scott and Melinda have been recording the Practical Principals podcast since the Fall of 2007 and hope to record many more episodes in the future. Read more about us on our "About" page. If you like what you hear, please visit us on iTunes and leave us some positive feedback!
As always, thanks for listening! Without you, it would just be the two of us talking to each other.
We’re finally in the double-digits with this, our tenth episode of Practical Principals. Among other things, we discuss interviewing, hiring, and Melinda’s new Mac. In addition, it’s worthwhile to note that the audio for this program has improved significantly with the addition of Scott’s new Snowball mic to his “studio.”
Highlights:
Format change - tech talk to be moved to the end of the show
Thanks for continuing to listen to the Practical Principals! The long-awaited “book review” episode is finally here, complete with Skype hiccups… I apologize in advance for the Skype issues, but I still think it was a great show!!
We’re still here and still working on ideas for upcoming eps. But as with anything else, we’re both insanely busy with families, grad school, and work.
We’ve got about 50% of episode 08 that we recorded before a Skype outage, and we’re trying to coordinate a time to finish that up.
Thanks for those who have emailed asking when the next episode is coming out! I promise you won’t be disappointed!
In Episode 07 we mentioned that our plan for 08 was to discuss some of the books we’ve read — personally and professionally — that have most affected how we work and live.
We haven’t read it all, so we’d love to mention anything you’ve read recently as well! Give us the title, a link, and a couple sentence synopsis and we’ll share on the next episode!!
The Practical Principals are alive and well, but finding it difficult to make time to record due to family situations, end of grad school semesters, and all the holiday hoopla in our respective buildings.
We plan to get back to podcasting in 2008 so we hope you’ll stay tuned!
